About Sewall’s Point

Henry Sewall and his wife founded Sewall’s Point in 1889. Soon, a thriving town grew around the new settlement and a post office was established for the peninsula in 1891. Around the turn of the 20th century, a number of English settlers immigrated to the area. An interesting fact: many of the town’s original homes were built using lumber salvaged from shipwrecks.
